Many researchers believe that addiction is both a behavior which can be controlled to some extent and also a brain disease. Plus, since some testing with functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI) found that all addictions tend to cause nearly the same reactions inside the brain, there could be one type of control model for addiction health-related issues. In other words, just as there is one disorder or disease labeled asthma, there would be one for addiction, covering all addictions; gambling, smoking, overeating, drugs, etc. Then one main treatment strategy or plan could be used to treat all addictions.

It is difficult to define exactly how addiction affects people, it has become popular to think of almost any behavior that has a compulsive quality as an “addiction.” Addictions come in all shapes and forms. But for those who have an addiction, or for those affected by the addiction of a loved one or close friend, it’s clear what an addiction means in “real” terms.

Depression is a natural behavior of human beings but if it continues for a prolonged period, it can be a matter of concern. It’s an emotional disorder that can appear for a number of reasons like stress, fear or inability to attain a desired goal. So how do we boost our confidence? Maintaining one’s confidence in these trying times can be difficult. It appears that everybody is depressed and moody, there aren’t any jobs, and all of the economic is confusing and not encouraging. This means we have to muster up all of our internal strength and find a way to tough it out.

Does it make you wish for the capacity to have an emotionally intimate relationship, not dozens of superficial ones? Or does the idea make you uncomfortable, make you laugh, make you say you want to meet one? Or perhaps you are concerned for the children and teenagers in your life, that they not become victims of sex crimes or that they (or you) not become victims of someone unable to commit to and sustain a relationship, or spend their lives wondering why they cannot have a healthy relationship. No question, the term, “sex addict” definitely provokes something in all of us.

Addictions come in all shapes and forms. Difficult to define exactly, it has become popular to think of almost any behavior that has a compulsive quality as an “addiction.” But for those who have an addiction, or for those affected by the addiction of a loved one or close friend, it’s clear what an addiction means in “real” terms.
